Held Up To Light is an ongoing exploration to discover hidden images within printed books. Each page is held up to light so that photographs from both sides merge - creating a new, composite image that exists only in that moment of illumination. Each visual encounter is photographed, colour-matched and printed using fine-art processes to capture, archive and faithfully reproduce.
It sits somewhere between the printed image and photography, between the readymade and collage. It combines figurative to create abstract, reality and fiction.
This website functions as both an archive, a living exhibition and a collection of fine-art prints to support the ongoing searching and sharing of these serendipitous illusions.
